The back of the house faces directly west and gets pounded by the sun half the day. With the large windows in the living room area, it lets in ALLOT of sun and heat. The sun was actually shining directly on the lower level thermostat causing it to say 85+ degrees mid afternoon (this causes the AC unit to stay on most of the day). The windows will need to be replaced soon I went to Lowes and found a 8' sunshade and installed it when I had the scaffolding up for the fan replacement. This has cut down on the heat and light transfer tremendously and I will also tint the lower level living room windows to help keep the UV rays out.
