I've sent smaller and lighter things to the US and have had to pay more than $50. Furthermore, when it gets shipped back, we typically get dinged for brokerage, duties, taxes, even though we shouldn't as it's a warrantied item. Unfortunately, they (the companies, including Canada Post) don't seem to give a damn about that and tell you to pay the fee on the spot if you want your parcel and then fight the charges which can then take months with no guarantee of success. Yup, it's what us Canadians constantly have to deal with when buying from the USA. It sucks but it's something we have to live with. Anyway, before I get too far into this, I'm going to wait to see what the vendor responds to my warranty request.
