For a reasonably athletic person, I don't think bicep tears are going to be an issue unless you intend on getting into the 500+ club.

The funny thing is I feel that my grip is the strongest in the double-overhand grip. I hated it at first, but I've grown to like it. My hip thrust is better in the double-overhand position as well.
