I dont think turbo damage would happen unless the oil sits in it afterwards
Top mount turbos never need turbo timers imo. Ill run engines on my dyno for 20 minutes with glowing exhuast and then just have to shut it down cuz something springs a leak etc. And ive never had a problem. But these engines have huge garrets and maybe they are diff.
