I started doing DEs with 30-minute sessions. I never had a problem with fatigue after only 30 minutes. Sure, I was knackered at day's end, but that's expected. Anyways, even if, as you say, 30 minute sessions are too long for a beginner (a statement I disagree with), I still firmly believe that 40 minutes between session is simply too short of a time to get anything done before heading back out; I hope that's one point we could both agree on.
Anyhow, I do agree that there should not be different session lengths between groups; if they were not, scheduling (as you said) would be a PITA.
In any event I'd really like to hear MVP's reasoning behind their 20 minute format.
