Wow. You really ARE in to details. I can't say I have noticed this trend.
But OK. Thank you. I understand now. Fully. For some reason I thought you were referring to tread design.

Some tires are significantly different widths when they are marked the SAME mm in size. Up to the point where one brand will fit a given wheel well and another brand will not fit the well at ALL.

You are correct about the MT DR's and Toyo R888's according to many reports. You can find tables where they publish the actual track width of most of these tires. You know, what the size of the actual footprint is, not just what they are marked.
I believe some of the Nittos run true or a bit narrower than average...like the 555 and 555r's.
