They took forever partly because there must have been at least 20 different stages where stuff needed to dry before the next step. My wife would see me staring up at the ceiling at night and ask "what are you thinking about?" Instead of the expected "I was thinking about how much I love you", I would reply with something like "I was thinking about how to build a router jig so that I can rout out perfect 3/4" channels in the corners of my speakers so I can do solid wood edging without screwing up the veneer." She would think about that for a second and say "wow, men are really, really weird"
