Lets not forget that mod money is completely pissed away. A garage full of exotic collector cars is going to hold value better than a bunch of stock cars hacked apart and modified.

This to the nth degree. You can't fundamentally alter a cars suspension geometry, only mildly adjust it. You most certainly won't find a car with lotus' double wishbone suspension setup in anything else, no matter how much modding you do.
