There are two differences between the KW V1 and ST: V1s have a stainless strut body and have a lifetime warranty. STs have a galvanized strut housing and a 5 year warranty.
Our photographs are of the actual product we sell. I suspect someone showing a helper spring is using stock photography - we take all our own photos. You can see the similarity between the E46 M3 V1 and the ST here:
