54Mb would be wireless G, and it is very possible that the overhead + WEP could slow you down to half that..
Wireless N is 300Mb theoretically, but should definitely be above 130Mb or so if you have wireless N in your wireless devices.
maybe your macbook and iphone are only wireless G.
Try WPA2 it should speed you up a bit.. but not a whole lot.
honestly, you probably don't need a 75Mb and could pay less for a slower speed.
