For the most part - yes.

They did it for societal pressures, they have been dating for years so "why not", a kid was involved, financial security, etc etc.

I don't think many couples are fully independent individuals that can stand up and support themselves without the help of the other in way way or another. I think that if you and your partner have the ability to stand up and be completely independent of each other, and CHOOSE to date, it's a whole different ball game.

There just aren't a lot of these out there, the ones that are are typically some form of a "power couple"
