I think your upper legs would be severely lacking after awhile compared to your arms/chest/shoulders/back/calves

Edit: if you think of it from a "scientific" point of view, the body is only forced to adapt when it is uncomfortable. Essentially the progression "wall" you create with bodyweight exercises is that you will be using the same weight each time... which is where weight vests / belts would need to come into the picture. Not sure if you were including those in your question
