The all aluminum small block V8 weighs considerably less the the Iron block straight six from the e46 M3. So it would be possible to do this without scewing the weight too much, assuming you had the money.
But the T-56 gearbox is heavier, my car is 1500kgs before the swap (325ci) it was 1425kgs so as it stands its still 100 + kgs lighter than a M3

With the Steel SBC in its going to be much more front biast tho....
