I've unplugged my car battery several times and didn't have to reset the radio.

I'm working on doing the same to my car. I haven't done it yet due to the weather.

But From what I've read you have to have the dash player that has the Mode button.

here are the PDF instructions that come with the Aux kit when you purchase from the dealer. I got mine for $30 ish
