It may not be the easiest or cheapest way, but I usually prefer starting from scratch. That way you know exactly what's been done to it and how it was done. Better than relying on someone elses competence. I've seen some nasty work by previous owners.

Definitely think you have the right idea with doing suspension, brakes and power. That way you'll have a capable track car without sacrificing the comfort of driving it whenever you want.
