Yeah, and it is definitely a much more "pleasant" movement. I find I can't tilt myself forward to hit the chest more, but I'm sure it is still getting hit when you are upright... albeit a bit less

my gym doesn't have rings because it is a cookie cutter gym, hate it
edit: I've been doing pushups as a finisher instead of dips, which is working out well so far
