My Ride: 2000 BMW 323Ci
Post Entering the BMW world...with a question!

Hey all, I just acquired my first e46, a 2000 BMW 323Ci with 156,XXX miles.

Of course there are a few things that I need to fix up. Owning a BMW is quite a welcome change compared to my two previous vehicles...1997 Buick Park Avenue and just recently a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. I have done my own work on all of my cars, few exceptions, and am looking forward to getting her back up to shape.

Things I have done so far...

!.) New alternator

2.) New water-pump

3.) New Radiator, coolant reservoir, and top radiator hose. (That was a job!)

4.) New Intake boot.

5.) New Belts (got the order in after radiator and fan were put back on...
so they haven't been replaced yet.)

Repairs I have planned.

1.) New bottom radiator hose.

2.) Outer Tie-Rod ends.

3.) Windshield Wipers...counts right?

4.) And then...

I have a problem when turning left at highway speeds. While turning at about 40-60 mph, I get a very severe clunk/vibration from the right wheel. It gets more severe the harder and faster I go into a turn. The clunk/vibration is pretty loud, and could be compared to a hammer hitting metal repeatedly. The wheel seems like it bounces up and down (though I know it isn't actually leaving the ground.) I have searched through the forums, and other google searches and haven't found too many things that are similar to my problem. A lot of people complain to a shake/vibration while turning and BRAKING but I do not have any problems with braking at all. This clunk can also be heard when hitting small holes or uneven pavement when going slow and turning. It is much more violent when turning though. I don't want to be that guy that makes a post that has several posts about the issue, but I couldn't find a solid answer. I tried to turn the wheel 3-9 o'clock and 6-12 o'clock. Not much play. I am going to try again to look for any signs of play tomorrow.

Basically I am just looking for a good list of things to check for. Thanks so much, and sorry for such a long first post. Cheers.
