Look at my garage, I have been running 8.5x18's on the front with 255/35's since 2007. No problem whatsoever with much better front end bite. If you go wider tires in the rear then you will need to roll the outer fender lips and "bang and spray" where the tires touch on the inner fender but only after installing a rear strut arm to help prevent any unwanted movement.
For tracking, add a front strut bar to match the rear bar and tighten up the slop in the front suspension. I run 35 lbs cold and keep them at this pressure. The way your tires wear determine what toe/camber you want in the front and rear.
