Jason suspects that when the fan controller burned up it sent a spike into the ECU burning up that circuit, thus the error is "no signal from the fan controller". It is cheaper to install a manual thermostat than to replace the ECU (mucho dinero!).
The bigger MAF along with a new fuel map will add more power.
