I can't fathom how you guys manage to live in a place with that dreadful season the call winter. Out here in California I've never even seen a remotely rusty spring on an e46.

Op can you pin point where you're rubbing? Is it in fact on the fender? It could be rubbing on something like the stud for the bumper clips. Iirc there are slight differences in the left and right wheel wells
