My mate has a 120d, he could get over 900km out of one tank filling, incredible...

Check out the Hartge H1. It has a tweaked E39 M5 motor with 450hp in it, and the sucker weighs less than 1.5 tons. Unfortunately it costs more than a brand new E60 M5...
