Honestly... Get yourself an M52 from an E36 ($700ish for an 80,000-mile motor used) and a 5-speed tranny ($300-600 used), and put that into the E30. You'll end up with a much better car, for about half the $3,000 you were quoted. E30 318 cabrios are dreadfully slow and lifeless, I'm sorry.
