As posted right above, you can slide the diff to the side (supported on a wheeled floor jack, obviously) and not remove any of the half-axle bolts IF you remove the two outer bolts on both lower control arms (which are the coat-hangar-thin bars that are below the upper control arms) and the two outer bolts on both upper control arms (which hold the bottom of the springs).

You have to remove the brake calipers, caliper carriers and brake rotors first, to access these 4 bolts.

It's a choose your poison deal, I think. I would rather not unbolt an axle, but others would disagree.
