You have nothing to worry about. You can only put the vanos back together correctly. You just can't make any mistakes. No one has yet. Once the vanos is closed up the procedure has you test the piston movements.

Installing the vanos back onto the engine head is also no problem. There are dowels at the top of the head that the vanos fits onto. There is nothing to do wrong, and no one has done anything wrong before.
