When you go around 8300 rpm (on a 330), you bend the valves. All you need to do is buy some new valves and do a valve job. If I've seen this once, I've seen it a hundred times.
One solution to reducing the chance of the "money shift," is to use a 100% stock shift linkage. Short shifters add to the probability of a missed shift. Talent behind the wheel will more than make up the difference in quick shifts.
