I'm 19 years old about to be 20 and I just bought a white 1999 328i manual transmission in October 2006. I never knew how to drive a manual and I learned using this car. Before I had a 1988 Toyota Camry and I am just LOVING my Bimmer....BIG upgrade. I think the main reason I love it so much is because I paid for all of it. Not like other people my age who drive around their parents car. I just bought a lip spoiler that I didn't install yet and I plan on painting the mouldings, buying new tail lights, and tinting the windows. Does anyone have any suggestions about painting the mouldings? I have a friend who says I can do it myself but I don't know if it would look bad.....any suggestions? Should I just have a professional do it? If so, how much would that cost? I really don't know much about cars and I'm just starting to learn but I know many people here know what their doing.

Also, I'm looking for places near Fremont that specialize in Bimmers because the dealership is sometimes more than a 19 year-old can afford. I had my front brakes replaced recently for $435 at Wheel Works, I had my window regulator replaced at the dealership for a little over $300, I replaced my rack and pinion and my power steering hose replaced at wheel works (forgot how much), and had my drive belts replaced at the dealership. I was wondering if anyone knew a place that's good with Bimmers that's less expensive than the dealership.

Here's a pic of the car now:

I haven't done anything to the exterior yet. This is how it looked when I bought it.

My car looks really funny right now because I started wrapping the mouldings on the rear bumper and the driver side but didn't finish the front bumper or the passenger side. I had to buy clamps and grommits from the dealership but they only had 9 in stock so I had to order them. Now I'm just waiting for them to arrive.

I'm still going to need a new clutch soon so if anyone has suggestions of places to go to in the bay, let me know.

Updates: Not much, I'm done (finally) with the 3m vinyl project. It makes a huge difference. I would post pics but I can't find my battery charger for my camera.

And I reaaaaally need a new clutch soon so if anyone knows a place they recommend I go to or if anyone can suggest what kind of clutch I should buy let me know. I don't have experience in this area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! =)

Still need help purchasing a clutch

I don't know too much about purchasing clutches (I'm still learning). But, is a new flywheel required if I buy a clutch kit? I want to get a new clutch within 2 weeks from now and I wasn't sure if I need to purchase any additional parts after buying a clutch kit.

After reading this thread: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5680756#post5680756 it made me want to buy a non-SAC but then I also read this thread:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...ght=new+clutch

So, now I'm unsure of what to buy. :hmm: Help please...I need opinions because I need to get a new one ASAP. And no one responded to my other post in the general forum. :(

dont get spooked 'kay. I just think its great that a girl is giving technical car advice to someone. And secondly that a different girl is seeking out this type of advice in the first place. so those two added up = :)

OK, I may have come to a decision. I'm most likely just going to buy an organic clutch kit from UUC without the LW flywheel. It's too pricey and not really needed (although it'd be nice to have). If they had a package with both LW flywheel and clutch kit, I'd buy it but that package is no longer available:

http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/catalo...r-e46-3-series-5-speed-models-only-b4oepo.htm

If you click on purchase, it says it's no longer available. And buying the flywheel separate is more than I can afford right now.

Comments or suggestions before I make the purchase?

You know I just have to say that she is just a girl (no offense angelica2905) ...I wish some of yall would get a life and not go CRAZY when a girl is welcomed to the forums...some of this crap you all have said is just boarder-line retarded and immature. Stick you tongues back in your mouths and act like human beings! Also for you that don't even really know her and don't even live 200 miles near her, you need to learn to get your nerdy @#! off the computer and go out in your own town and say "hello" to some of the girls in you OWN AREA CODE....I would hate to see how some of you would act where I live in Panama City Beach, FL during spring break...

angelica2905 - this is in no way directed towards you, I have respect for laddies and just can't stand how some people have responded to your welcome here.

I don't mind the comments as long as nobody crosses the line. It's nice to read them sometimes, and the immature comments I don't mind because some are entertaining. And in their defense, you can't assume that they don't know how to get girls in their own town just because they compliment a girl online.

So far people have been pretty respectful towards me but I do appreciate your concern.

bro no one takes anything they read off a messege board seriously anyways, especially when its in a jocular sense (which most of the comments made are)

its cool that u have respect for the ladies, and i agree with you when u say that guys shouldnt go crazy and regress to a 13 year old prepubescent mind set when ever a girl joins...hell, if they didnt, we'd probably have alot more females on the board lol

but you gotta lighten up and not blow up at them like you did man, just roll with the punches, if the girl doesnt mind it, why should you? angelica is cool, and i bet you she is very capable of defending herself on an online messege board if some fool was to cross the line with comments

so enjoy, have a good laugh, and just relax, its justs the intrawebs :p
