We were trying to get the car to Bimmerfest East, however I believe the Comp Oil-less turbo had a bearing failure this weekend. We will have another setup up and running as soon as possible, however I am shipping the car back to NJ to complete the work.
I know everybody's wondering about that....I would be too. But I won't be releasing any power numbers as this isn't 'my kit'. I've suggested to MaximumPSI that they wait till everything is completely buttoned up and finalized before *they* release the power numbers.
What I will say is that the power production thus far has been exactly what I expected (ie, what the math predicts it would be).
Stage 1 is stock motor with factory intake, pump gas, ~8psi. Stage 2 would be a low compression built motor, aluminum intake, and pump gas, boost level TBD.
We are not looking to mass produce a series of stages, however we are also distributors for ProEFI and HPF. That said, we can put together any package you want given the appropriate budget.
With Hpf stage 1 putting down about 440whp @ 6psi, I would think 8psi would be closer to 480-500whp. These are different turbos though. I guess we shall see when its released.
Awesome time to release this, as I'm making my continental move this week to California USA!! Really looking forward to putting one of these bad boys on an LSB M3!
Unfortunately not. We really wanted to bring it, but it didn't work out.
Mike just pulled 3 all nighters in a row to get his E36 ready. He looks like a zombie, smells like a zombie, and told me he had a conversation with me last night when I wasn't even here, but he's still at it right now and its 4:30pm the day before the show. Still lots to do...
Hey John, any progress or thoughts on which direction you guys are going with the replacement turbo? Have you figured out what exactly caused that last one to fail? Thx
At this point, no decision has been made. We are exploring a couple different options.
We got the E46 back here in NJ, yesterday afternoon. The turbo is boxed up and ready to ship to Comp. They are going to disassemble it and figure out whats going on. They are on the west coast, so they should have it in 4-5 business days.
do you know what kind of internals you will be using for the low compression build? do you have them in stock? im puting a s54 into my sedan and plan on adding boost. so while the s54 is sitting in my paddock... i should just do low compression built internals....
Hey Kev - will do. The storm wasn't too bad. Mike did have to stay overnight though to keep water out of the dyno pit, but it was all worth it. Nothing was damaged.
You need to make them before you can sell them! No offense but it's taking too long lol. No hate I'm still a fan, you guys just need to get it all squared away and I know you will!
