We are working on the development of the stage two system for the M3. We recently installed an upgraded fuel system in the shop M3 to handle the additional fueling requirements of the unleaded MS109. The plan is to have switchable maps and boost levels for pump gas as well as 109. E85 will come next!
Had the car on the dyno yesterday and these were the results:
The stage two offering come with the same hardware pacakge as the stage one. It will come with an upgraded fuel system and switchable maps and boost levels between 109 and pump gas.
Nice results! How will boost be changed between different fuels? Are you guys still using a manual boost controller?
Also random question, but why are the exhaust tips white if you are running MS109 fuel? Typically the exhaust will only get a white coating if you run leaded fuel through the car.
Good catch. We had a mix of 93 and C16 in the car during the week because we ran out of MS109. These runs were done on straight unleaded MS109 which has an octane of 105 R+M/2. We plan on utilizing the sport button and a key switch for the switchable maps. The boost is handled with an Eboost 2 at the moment.
Stage 2 uses the same hardware as Stage 1, aside from an upgraded fuel system, some wiring components, and an Eboost 2 boost controller(if you don't have one already from Stage 1). Stage 1 and 2 will make the same power on the pump gas setting. That is knock limited by the 93 or 91 octane fuel you are running ~460-500whp. Your power numbers will be slightly lower on 91 octane unless you choose to add a meth injection setup to bump up the octane and add knock resistance. At the moment we don't plan on selling a methanol injection 'package' with the kit, however a user could add an aquamist or coolingmist setup to their kit. With race gas the stage 1 kit maxes out at ~600whp, and stage 2 will support whatever the stock motor will hold.
outstanding! so for people already running the stage 1 kit, stage 2 wouldn't be a difficult install since you have all of the right hardware? no fuel injector upgrades for stage 2?
The install would be very simple - Stage 2 uses the same hardware as Stage 1, aside from an upgraded fuel system, some wiring components, and an Eboost 2 boost controller(if you don't have one already from Stage 1). Larger injectors are part of the upgrade to Stage 2.
The Ethanol based upgrade will have additional changes to the fuel system in addition to an integrated electronic boost controller and ethanol analyzer.
As of this morning, my E46 currently has switchable maps for MS109 and 93/91 octane, and it also has the electronics installed for E85 development. We also have some pretty sweet stuff integrated into the factory ecu to make my car a rolling dyno impin:

Currently the software is only available with the purchase of the kit.
