OK, I have gotten dozens of pms over the last couple months regarding the muffler delete and "how does it sound...". So, I figured I would just take a few vids under different circumstances so you could get a decent representation how it sounds and hopefully, settle some of the confusion.
The car has the OEM headers, the OEM intake, both OEM resonators, and no muffler... just piping out the back to tips. Also has a vorsteiner dual sided hood if that makes any difference (maybe it's lighter so has less sound dampening :dunno: )
Anyways, here you go. I figured doing it at night would be best as you could see the speedometer and RPMs best.:
$100 from ebay, i didnt try to clear anything after the install. Im here in florida where emissions are an after-thought, so I just relocated the post-cat O2 sensors to the drug bin.
I understand where you are coming from. It's just i highly doubt i lost hp. Id like to see dyno charts showing hp loss from header install and muffler delete. The lowest hp GAINS I've seen from headers on this forum are 11 i believe. I hope you arent attributing this loss to back pressure.
Muffler was deleted 5+ years ago (hence the style 45s, non-painted hood, missing front lip and roof rack). It was never deleted with the expectation of performance. It was simply deleted out of personal preference. I hope you didn't think i did both at the same time. That would be silly.
I drove my 330ci at various speeds between 50-90mph last night and there was barely any drone! Anyone who says the drone at highway speeds is unbearable, they must have super super hearing or something. It sounds amazing on the highway especially going under overpasses! Anyone looking at YouTube videos, just dont. They dont do justice to the real sound.

It'll sound like you're driving a race car all the time. No doubt it sounds good when you want to go for a blast on some twisty stuff, but it just sounds ridiculous around town. I have a friend with the same muffler delete, and driving 6 cars in front of him in traffic just makes it sound ridiculous.
I have the second resonator removed on my 325ci, now that is the best compromise imo. Only loud over 4000rpm, I'm even considering removing the other resonator now!
the car is extremely loud but for some reason it does not annoy me when i drive around town or anything. i guess its personal preference, i know many people that dont mind it and others that would never even conciser getting a muffler delete on that car. yea removing the second resonator would make it sound much better
Definitely gives the car some character, but what does the rest of the car look like? I think it's ridiculous when people do this and the car is bone stock/stock ride height. It's like a yappy little dog. All bark, no bite.
hi i have a 2002 bmw 330ci convertible and wanted to know if any one has done a muffler delete and if it sound good or not i seen some videos on youtube but i want to get other peoples advice on it
