Question Windy City BMW @ Grattan

I posted this in the Chicago area euro board and I wanted to post it here too since there are more people.

Does anyone know if Grattan would be a safe track for a first time at a driver's school? It looks a bit more complex than Gingerman.

Grattan

Gingerman

I would have done Gingerman in a heartbeat (in fact I still have hotel reservations I need to cancel) but I can't really ask for days off at my job since I've only been here for a few weeks and Gingerman is only next month. The Grattan school is in September though.

Any track is safe for beginners. I guess except Road America.

Anyway, Grattan is a very technical track. There are a lot to learn on that track even for a veteran. Lots of blind and off-camber corners. 1/4 mile straight and a jump in the back straight. It is quite a rollercoaster track. It is my favorite track in Michigan. Just go and have fun.

On the other hand, Gingerman is a true beginner's track. Very flat and lots of run offs. Almost nothing to hit except at turn 11.

Either one, you will have tons of fun and a lot to learn.

Good luck.

Grattan is GREAT! I think it's tough, though. But wow...

Gingerman inspires confidence. Like Stealthy said, there's basically nothing to hit. I started at Putnam, which has tons of runoff room, like Gingerman. Can you not sneak away for the weekend to go to Gingerman? I'm going!

I'm going to sign up for Grattan with Windy City as soon as my application arrives. Are they out yet?

Off-camber means the road isn't flat from side to side. Turn three has a blind turn-in and the road slopes down to the right, away from the apex. It's a riot! (at Grattan)

No I can't. I'll be going to Grattan if I get the days off for sure though.
The application isn't posted yet.
