Head unit replacement

How easy is it to remove and replace the standard stereo head unit and how do replacements look in the dash. Any photos would be great. I am looking to replace with my Z828 MP3 player but need advise on how to remove the standard unit as there are no pin slots like standard units.

Start by removing the trim from the passenger side. It should just pull out (See DIY on trim removal), then undoi the two bolts holding radio in. That should be it

i think the standard mounting kit for aftermarket decks are goofy because they are not in the middle, they are kinda off to the left a little. What I did was I custom made a kit using MDF and Fiberglass and covered it with a vinyl that looked similar to the bmw leather. I installed my alpine cda-7893 and it is straight centered. You should definetly do custom work instead of using the mounting kit, thats my opinion. PeAcE-djbmw
