Anyone have a X5 with SMG?

Anyone ever heard of a X5 with SMG? I feel thats the only thing that's really lacking on the 4.4 and 4.8?

you could use the motor from the 850csi use more aggressive cams, and possibly port and polish and then headers and what should prolly get you to about 400-450hp with prolly close to 500lb ft of torque. Either that or you could use the v-12 from the 750 or current 760. They should fit since there is a bit of extra space in the v8's engine bay.

If I used the M3 engine + SMG tranny in an X5...would that work power wise? Would it be slower than say a 300 hp 4.4? I don't know much about low end torque...it would just seem like displacement matters a lot more when its a truck?

I don't think that's a great idea.

I'd love to see you build on a 4.8iS though.

do the 545i's come with SMG? I figure that would the closest smg tranny that might fit...SMG is a pain in the ass...it's integrated with DSC, engine, yada yada...I really like X5's they are solid...v8's have a different kind of push on the low end...=)

The 545i/645ci both had SMG as an option- unfortunately, it's nowhere near as quick and dynamic as that found in the M3.

How are you going to fit a SMG on to a Xdrive car??? Aren't they special transmissions? I know my X has a ZF, but it is also all wheel drive. Maybe the tranny connects to the X differential or something. But the X comes with manual trannys too. Don't know.

If someone can do it, George can.

I dunno if I would call a x5 3.0 decent...I think its heavily underpowered for that truck...im more concerned on the electronics side now...since the X5 has a lot of similarites with the 5er platform...im trying to figure out exactly this would work out...what am I saying im gonna go take a look at the 4.4i right now...=p

Don't think the tranny will bolt right on, and this could be a big problem. Not to mention engine mounts, exhaust system (custom everything) and electronics. Sounds like a big costly project and probably wont worth it.
