42in Plaz- Sammy or Hitachi??

Ok, all you TV experts. Ive narrowed it down to the Samsung (HP-R4252) or the Hitachi (42HDS52). Ive seen the Samsung, which is 720 res. in person and it looked pretty good to me. I havent been able to check out the Hitachi in person but its 1080i res. Price is about the same for both (+or- $200). Does anybody have either of these? What would you do? Thanks!

When looking for our plasma a few months back, I remember the hitachi providing the better picture. The sammy plamas left much to be desired from what i recall.
In the end though, I couldn't live without a Pioneer.

It's a real love/hate feeling with my new Samsung. Some things look phenomenal, others look like sh!t. Regular programming is quite poor for the most part. Seems like dark scenes are the worst. Animated movies, sports, and other bright movies look great.

However, the Samsung design was my favorite of all the affordable plasmas that I saw. The PQ looked amazing on everything I saw in the store. I'm going to try one of those calibration DVDs to see if I can make some adjustments.

Let me know how that works. Im with you on everything you said about the Samsung and I did see that some of the reviews knocked its black level performance. If the calibration doesnt work for you, im def going with the Hitachi.
