My Ride: 2000 323 Ci
Brake Caliper Fix

I replaced the black rubber bushings for the guide pins on my rear calipers. Does anyone know if I am supposed to lube the inside and outside of these bushings or if I should put an adhesive on the outside so that it sticks to the caliper and then lube the inside where the guide pin goes?

Officially both BMW TIS and Bentley advice against putting any lubrication on the guide pins. But I decided to coat the pins with brake paste (anti-seize) when my front right caliper seized due to dirty pins last year. No problem so far. I guess some kinds of paste degrade the rubber, the reason it's not advised.

And no adhesive on anything.

I usually use a small amount of silicone based lube on the pins because it seems that the rubber bushing sticks to them if I don't and this causes squeak. It seems that the bushings move and flex a bit within the caliper instead of having everything move just in and out on the pin. This is why I am asking about an adhesive. The old bushings were locked firmly in place but I am assuming this is from age and heat.
