Inner Headlights

I purchased a '02 325iT and have noticed that only the high intensity outer headlight bulbs operate. They do change between high and low beams, but the inner two bulbs never light. Faulty bulbs, aftermarket light kit installation? Just wondering if this is normal or a problem with the lights?

Going from the picture of your car below you have normal HID Xenon headlamps. The headlight Unit ONLY light up three ways.

1. Normal nighttime lamps aka your outer Xenon part of the unit,
2. High Beams w/ Normal nighttime lamps or High Beam Flash when Normal nighttime lamps are off. This is the big bulb on the inner part of your Headlight unit.
3. DRL or Daytime running lamp that comes on when you start the car and come of when Nighttime lamps are turned on. This DRL is the second and smaller bulb on the inner part of your Headlight unit and if it doesn't come on for you then it needs to be programmed by the dealership ($80).

I assume the DRL is what you are talking about.

Thanks, I can assume they are DRL then, but $80 to get them programmed to come on. I've been using the fog lamps during the day. I was wondering about the lack of DRL option on this vehicle, thanks delmarco and afrothunder1
