don't know what happened...
don't know how many of you are even aware of bmwplanet.com
i was introduced to e46fanatics by coldintake a while ago
but didn't register until now... since the 'planet seems to have died

anyone know?

and to introduce myself...
my name's edward... aka romeo
i drive a 2001 325i silver... no real mods... just retrofitted OEM xenons...
i'm currently bmw-less ... got hit by a drunk driver on 2/15/03... who took off in his car... but i ran after him on foot for 2 blocks and caught him... now his ass is in jail for hit&run, DUI, no license, no insurance
he blew a 0.15BAC at the station

and i happen to work for the LAPD (not a sworn officer)
he really messed with the wrong guy

my poor car's in the shop... with minimum $8000-$10,000 in damages... and my insurance will have to pick up the tab

so that's my short intro. hoping to find out what happened to bmwplanet... and to pick up some style m68 17" wheels from the 'for sale' section to replace my damaged wheels

i noticed that the planet seemed to drop off the face of the earth... sad, but fanatics is the place to be!

sorry to hear what happened to your ride, even tho he wasnt insured, i am glad u caught his azz... people like that should die

I was wondering what happened to bmwplanet.com. I visit there every now and then, and it's been down for awhile now. Hmmm.

i'm a true believer in bmw's
the drunk bastard t-boned me in the intersection going about 45 mph... but my car does not look bad at all
but i think that has a lot to do with the fact that he hit my wheel+fender+door
knocked my axle and suspension out of place
that absorbed a lot of the impact... so there isn't THAT much body damage... but it was hard enough to set off the 2 side airbags

so yeah... this bastard t-boned me going about 45mph... he ran his red ... he was like a full 2 seconds late
then he took off in his car, and i got out of my car and ran after him
caught up to him 2 blocks later because he was stuck in traffic
i jumped in front of his car and told him to get the f*** out of the car
i had my digital camera, so i took pics of his license plate and his face

he had the nerve to say "you hit me"
i said... "F*** YOU. if i hit you, why are you f-ing running away?"

anyway, LAPD responds and i happen to know both officers who showed up
they arrested his ass for hit&run and possible DUI... and he blew a 0.15BAC at the station

the guy at the body shop estimates $8000-$10,000 damage... perhaps more when they take the car apart... told me my axle and suspension's shot
i'm HOPING that there is more damage and that the car will be considered a total loss so i can get a new car... instead of getting a car back that's had that much damage

wow - glad you are okay! its great to hear of an incident where you get the idiot that did that - so many times people are hit and run, or cars vandalized and no-one is ever caught.

I'm glad you caught the guy, and it's a good thing you had a camera in your car. Maybe I should keep one in my car too, just in case.
