I love my AFE. If you want one this is the cheapest I've seen one online.

K&N is smog legal. In California that's reason enough for me!

K&N is a great starter intake but I will stick with my Gruppe M. I have had all the crazy pricy intakes from $200-$2500 on my various cars over the years and the cheapest ones are certainly not the best but either are the most expensive. I would test a few of them and then do some research, then decide.

Go with an ECIS. You can order one through rogue engineering. If i remember correctly I paid close to $300 for mine, and it was well worth the money. That was close to two years ago and I've had no problems. Still using the same filter. My roommate has a K&N and it just looks kinda out of place on a bmw IMO.

Dinan airbox all the way, its the newest, cleaner, and it has the biggest filter of all, AND an extra air channel for more air.
