UUC Engine Mounts vs M3 (for non-m E46)
Which would you choose and why? Is it necessary for the front subframe to be reinforced with the UUC's? (I keep getting the answer 'no' but let me know what you think!)
If you have the UUC's, please chime in on NVH and how bearable it is. Thanks! |

How do you use the car and why are you looking to upgrade?

^Current ones are toast, looking to upgrade mainly to get a better feel for the car and for 'light' track use (auto-x or other track day events). I used to have an Integra with a Prelude motor with urethane mounts, but they were terrible quality and the car used to vibrate all over the place - to the extent that I couldn't see properly from my rear view mirror because it shakes so much. The dashboard and deck would shake a lot and make A LOT of noise. This is my experience with poly engine mounts, only I'm not sure if its because honda's are cheap quality and vibrations get translated easily into the cabine or was that a combination of crappy mounts + crappy car lol.
coles notes: had a honda with poly mounts, didnt like it because it vibrated violently. will it be the same with the UUC's. |

Any details as to why you would suggest the M3 mounts? I do enjoy a bit of that raw feeling you get in the steering wheel, minus the retarded amount of vibrations (like moving the rear view mirror or making everything sound like its falling apart) - basically my question is would the UUC mounts result in this outcome? or simply just more 'Steering wheel' vibration/feel?
thanks for the comments! keep 'em coming. |

I ordered the M3 motor mounts and they should be going in next week or so. I don't remember any vibration from my M3 test drives so I think they'll be pretty smooth.

I haven't used the UUC mounts but I've heard the UUC mounts use a soft poly that doesn't transmit a ton of vibration. They do however label them as being for track use only. There are also scattered reports of failures with these mounts. Some pics and discussion here:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...5#post18623665 I personally wouldn't touch a non-bolt-through poly mount. For a mostly street driven NA 330, I wouldn't recommend anything stiffer than the M3 mounts.
