opinion needed: UUC underdrive pulleys

are they worth it? I am getting my water pump replaced and thought maybe I could put these in as well. however, all the stuff I've read seem to indicate the gains are theoretical, if any. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

i have them, kpeng has them, swinford HAD them (sold to kpeng)

no noticeable gains. no performance. just fun to say you have.
i WOULD recommend getting the UUC one over other, because they dont under-drive the alternator...

edit, did you get new ones swin?

I have them, and did notice a difference. Steering is tighter, throttle response is better.

It's not a huge difference.

I wonder if running without an AC belt would also make a difference.

I have the Bavarian Hypersports pulleys and I like them a lot. I do feel like I got some power gains, could be placebo. The best part about them is the underdriven steering. My steering felt so much better after the pulleys. I'd say that they are worth it.

Euro Tuner Mag got 6hp on their 99 M3 sedan project car with UUC pulleys. Not an E46, but I would wager the gains are similar. Most BMW people say "it isn't enough to notice" about most mods. But if you get them ALL (intake, software, pulleys, headers, exhaust, etc) then there is power to be had. Will it be as noticeable as forced induction, no. But the above mods all work together and will compound on top of each other.

It'd feel tighter because the pump would turn slower. Adds a "heavy feel" that us LUK 20 guys enjoy normally.
