///M3 calipers on 330Ci ZSP? Might need new calipers.
Sup guys,
So Ive got a 2004 330Ci ZSP and under most braking situations the wheel will jiggle a little bit, but more at highway speed. Its not wheels, tires, or alignment cause that was all redone after the car was rear-ended. I dont have many records from the PO on maintenance, but the brake fluid looks clean, and the rotors aren't new but their not about to go (lil lip on em). Ive got a friend who has some E46 M3 brake calipers from his dads maybe 2003 or 2004 M3. Their just in his basement and haven't been on a car any time recently. If it looks like I would need them, could I use them on my car? realoem lists both brake rotors at 325mm, but mine are 325x25 and the m3 are 325x28... dont know how useful that info is but there it is. I read in the m3 parts on a non-m thread that they can be fitted pretty easily, but will require a bigger carrier... still true? I havent had either brakes looked at (I obviously dont know much) but maybe my oem brakes just need a rebuild, and considering the age maybe the M3 brakes would too... Hopefully someone with some knowledge can chime in

Bump!
Could a dragging brake pad lead to a "burning" smell? I dont know what [my] brakes smell like when suuuper hot (dont spend much time at the track...) but usually when I drive at like 40mph for like 5mins even I can start to smell something (windows open), then when I get home there is some sort of burning smell for a minuet or two. And after 5 mins of 40mph then 30mph driving I checked the temperature of the front disks. One was hotter than the other by about 5*F, and it was the dirtier one but a highway test for a while should be done to heat the brakes up to more than 115*F (and I had to use the brakes on a buntch of turns on the way home...)

I didnt read all that but m3 breaks will need to be milled to fit.

Not worth it. Both are the same size but the m3 Rotor is tad thicker. Milling of the caliper will be needed to fit on the Knuckle.

what do you think will be more $$$: reuilding OEM or buying ///M3 from friend ($100? maybe, havent discussed) and milling?
I was told milling the calipers wasnt an extremely uncommon thing... Having ///M3 on my calipers would look pretty cool

yeah I know, their like 3mm wider than my stock setup.
so Milling the brakes wouldnt be a big deal (to get done... I cant do that myself...) ?
