Rear wheel sounds likes its going to fly off!!
-I went to the gym in my 03' 325i everything was fine
-As I left the parking lot I thought I heard a noise I turned down my radio and it went away -20 seconds latter I get on the feeder and it sounds like my rear passenger wheel is going to fly off. -Its hopping and making a LOUD clunking noise -Pull into a parking lot and get the wheel off any every thing looks in place and fine. -Put the wheel back on and tried to diagnose more, -It drives okay in reverse still makes a screeching noise, but something gets stuck when I try to move it forward and makes the clunking noise -My only conclusion is it could be the wheel baring? Thanks in advance for any input, Nathan |

Also it sits about 2 inches lower in the rear passenger side.

Wheel bearing most likely...assuming you don't have a cracked spring (yes...the springs are prone to crack sadly).

Now that is weird.
Were you driving with the e brake engaged? Any photos of the damaged components?? |

E-brake was not engaged, I never lifted it since I bought the car because it didn't work at all.
It was so mind boggling trying to diagnose the problem. Everything seemed to be intact and working flawlessly. ![]() ![]() |

I feel like i have this same problem. I dont have FWD. Seems to happen when the engine is cold. When in first gear and holding it to about 2,500 RPMs, depressing the clutch in there is this audible knock/clunk noise. i think i have seen similar threads on here describing this occurrence. My front control arm bushings are straight and dont need to be replaced as they were replaced 15,000 miles ago.
The noise is strictly when i depress the clutch and it makes the knocking sound, i move it to the next gear and let out the clutch.....RTABs?? |
