Ignition Coils Question

Hi all

I bought my E46 318Ci (2004) last October and thankfully due to unfamiliar Irish weather, I've been able to drop the hood down quite a bit during the last month or so !!

I wanted to check my plug conditions to see if they needed replacement, not knowing the full vehicle history (or not trusting whatever servicing was previously done) so today I removed the engine covers and coils to get at the plugs - which turned out that they seem fine.

Anyway, when I took out the coils, two of them were Bosch (0 221 504 100) and the other two were BMW. However, what I thought was strange was that the two BMW ones were different, one was 12.13-7 551 260 while the other was 12.13-1 712 223.

Are both of these coils correct for my 1995cc engine ? The car runs OK although sometimes I think it could be quicker. It generally feels a bit roughish when pulling off in first gear until I change up or until over about 2000 revs

The originals are Bremi-make (BMW), causing some misfires here and there, and then replaced with Bosch, supposedly better quality. I guess this is your case.

Just had a Bosch-one fail me, so that's enuff said about quality differences. Bought a non-branded replacement.
