Vert Rear side window Molding

On my vert the black plastic piece in the image below broke and half of it fell off. My question is Is there a way to replace just the black plastic piece or am i better off going getting an entire window with the black piece intact from Ebay? Im scared of braking the window while removing the plastic piece still connected to the window. Any info or help is appreciated.

The black plastic molding is replaceable for the rear window. I ordered a pair from Tischer BMW and changed mine out last year.

To remove the original molding, use a hair dryer to loosen up the adhesive then use a little bit of muscle to just pull it out. Then sparingly use silicon to re-adhere the new molding to the window. Don't lower the window and allow 24 hours for the silicon to cure.

Hi, I have a similar issue, and was thinking of changing the whole glass window out. I am assuming you removed the whole window out to replace the moulding, please confirm and do you have procedures on how to remove? Was it difficult, any surprises to be aware of? Thanks

You don't need to remove the entire glass to change out the molding. As mentioned, use a hair dryer to heat it up and it'll be easier to pull off. There's really no procedure.

I brought the parts to a body shop to change. I watched out they did it and it's simply heat up the molding and pull off.

ok, I have seen the window on ebay as well, thinking of buying it, but replace just the rubber moulding and it can be done witout taking the window out? Seems like you need to remove the interior quarter panel to expose that side of the glass, but I guess I'm wrong, anyway, I need to get this done, it is getting annoying now that vert season is here.

Did this about a year and a half ago. That moulding was a super PITA to remove from the window. I didn't remove the window from the car. What I ended up doing was cutting the moulding off using a dremel. Once I cut it about 50%, I then was able to pull the moulding off the window. I bought some black window silicone from NAPA that they use to install windshield, 3M stuff. It stuck it back on real good.
