Electric motor burnout
I suspect the motor on my sunroof may have burned out. When I attempt to close the sunroof with BMW's special tool, no amount of force will turn it in either direction. I have removed the motor and examined it and nothing appears jammed anywhere. The same with the sunroof I have removed that and checked for blockages or the usual sunroof problems. Due to the fact that I am unable to open and close the sunroof manually I suspect the motor itself may have seized. To reiterate if the motor has burnt out will it seize up?
All help appreciated |

usually when the motor goes it can still be manually closed via the sunroof motor like your doing, does the motor have power supply? If no check your fuses, if yes see if the motor moves if you remove it completely from the sunroof track. If the motor moves after you remove it from the sunroof, chances are your sunroof is shot and binding, rebuilding or replacement may be needed.

One thing I noticed with mine is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't turn the car off then on and try again
