Favorite Cookbooks
Most of my cookbooks are packed away for a move. What is your favorite 5 cookbooks?
Mine in no order: Cook's Illustrated The New Best Recipe. Dean & DeLuca Cookbook Taste: One Palate's Journey Through the World's Greatest Dishes The Frugal Gourmet (and FG Cooks Three Ancient Cuisines) Mrs. Chiang's Szechwan Cookbook I just scored The Escoffier Cookbook for $4 at the local bookstore. Haven't had a chance to read through it yet.

Cook's Illustrated The New Best Recipe. - Great book. That's where I got the bagel recipe when I made bagel dogs last year and posted pics.
Joy of Cooking - somewhat old fashioned, but it is comprehensive. The index is 70 pages long, which is awesome. The Craft of the Cocktail: Everything You Need to Know to Be a Master Bartender Other than that, I just like to find recipes online. Last edited by brew; 05-08-2012 at 02:45 PM. |

can you guys recommend a cookbook for someone who has no idea what he's doing? i've been wanting to learn how to truly cook, but i'm not just talking about a handful of recipes. i want to learn everything from the correct way to take apart a chicken to cutting techniques to how to braise, etc.

My favourite cook books are Marcella Hazan, Fuchsia Dunlop, Jane Grigson, Nigel Slate. I usually do cooking by reading from these books.
