There are a few threads about this, mainly the fix is tightening the screws inside the box to prevent this from happening again. I'm don't exactly know what the solution is to get it open if locked. I recall mine locked once and I just played with the key... put the key in the lock, force it left (or right), and try to open the box with the key in at the same time it's far left or far right. Try different depths too. Barely insert the key and gently do it, and if that doesn't work, push the key in deep and then turn it. It was frustrating but eventually it unlocked. Of course, make sure you car is unlocked.

Trust me, I was thinking what everyone is saying while I was typing it, and I actually changed some words so it wouldn't sound so blatant! I really was describing the lock but definitely loling at the double entendra.

I think these convertible gloveboxes all have problems. Lot's of people searching for the solution. Plus, my 330cic had the same problem with the glovebox.

My new M3 vert glovebox only unlock with the key. I have to turn the key to the left and pull the little handle to open. I need to find the solution to this glovebox issue too.

I had the same problem. Slowly pull on the latch and at about 3/4 pull it should open. If you pull the latch fully it won't open. Once open tighten the screws

1. As everyone else has said, turn left and right whilst pulling on handle. May have to turn more than usual.

2. Once open, tighten the two phillips screws holding the latch to the glovebox door. Even if they don't feel loose, tighten them -- even a little makes a big difference in the latch being easy to open. Good luck.

I checked the glovebox today and no more locked glovebox!! I open the glovebox and unscrewed the two back screws. Inspected the lock, springs, and latch. Everything looked okay and I put it back together and tighten the two screws and now it unlocks, locks, and open great!!! Check your two back screws to see if they are loose. Good luck!

Mine does not work 100%. I find if I push the door in with one hand while gently prying open the handle with the other I can get it to unlatch. I've tightened the screws so many time I think they need locktite or replacement.

^ good call. I do this too! If you simply pull the whole thing down with the handle (like every other car in the world) it will frequently not open. But holding the door securely until the latch is all the way pulled does work. It's just become an instinct with me.

Popping the power locks a few times while turning the key has helped me a few times. I'm about to disconnect the power lock on the glovebox....

I THINK it has a setup where when u lock the doors of the vert. It locks the glovebox. Kinda like the gas door.
Not entirely sure tho.
