A/C works on an off help!

I have a 2001 330ci and my a/c heat etc has a habit of deciding not to work sometimes. It wont blow any air when it doesnt work including the defogger. Does anyone have any ideas why this happens? it suddenly just stops working and days later it will randomly start again i find it quite odd.

Almost textbook example of a faulty FSR (final stage resistor). Swap out with a new one and you should be good to go. The forum is littered with info about this. When it's working, does your a/c still blow normal as far as the set temperatures you want blowing out of the vents?

I mean it does for the most part but it does seem like the cold air isnt as cold as it used to be before this problem arised. How much does this FSR's usually go for?

Well in that case I wouldn't worry about it too much. The less cool air could be do to a loss in charge. Simple fix. As far as the FSR. Here you go> http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Final-St...b912d9&vxp=mtr

Let me know if you need any more help with A/C stuff after the replacement of the FSR.
