Key Synced but still wont work
Hi guys, Just bought my first e46 - a 2001 330i. I love the car but the keyless entry doesnt work, I tired the re-syncing of the key fob. At the end the doors are supposed to all lock to show that the key was programmed correctly... This happened so I thought I was good! But... The buttons on the key are still ineffective.
Any ideas why? Battery in the key? spare key behaves the same way. |

2001 means the battery is dead. Officially you need a new key. Unofficially there is a way to replace the battery. Search the forums.

Whats the difference with 2001? I thought all the diamond shaped keys are supposed to charge through the ignition?
Thanks for the responses guys. |

that means your 11 year old battery is dead, wont hold a charge anymore.

My key was dead when I first got my car too. I drove with it or a few days and it charged the battery back and it's working fine. If you just got the car, maybe drive for a couple of days and see if the battery charges.
