What's wrong
My car is making a really high pitch wine when I first start it in the morning. Then it does it between 15-2500 rpm while driving now most of the time. It started doing it bad when I left one morning and it was 40 degrees out. It would do every once in a while before, only on first start of day then stop. Could this be a belt of some sort or perhaps alternator.

It is probably a pulley making noise. When the bearing are going out, they squeal when they are cold but don't when they warm up.

It's coming from the driver side so would probable be safe to say alternator. I do live on a dirt roAd.

Dont waste money guessing and replacing. You can get a cheap stethescope and use open tube to listen to each pulley/idler. I know its old school but still best. Or some idlers you can use probe attachment and touch on unmoving parts should hear if its rough
