18" wheels vs. 19" wheels

I'm stuck on either 18" or 19" BBS lm reps, I'm scared 18 might look a little small as I have stock 17's on my E46 328i, I like the thought of 19's cause you don't have to lower the car and I don't want to mess with a suspension engineered by geniuses, can anyone post pictures of their 18" or 19" wheels with a stock stance please thank you

18's on coupe, 19's on sedan's.

Going to 18's from 19's was the best thing I've ever done

Ahh how refreshing to see a BMW in its natural habitat

I would go 18s myself, I dont think that 1" difference is worth paying more for tires. And the ride is (marginally) better too

Ever notice how many sets of 19" wheels are posted on the Wheel Section? The owner thinks that they look so good but soon find that they rub, the ride quality is horrible and potholes will bend a rim easily. Did I mention how poor your E46 will perform with such a large diameter wheel on it? An 18" wheel with a 35/40 series tire is as large as most knowledgeable owners will mount.

I am going to have to agree with going with 18s. I currently have 19s on my coupe (bought that way), but keep finding myself wishing that I had 18s instead. I have changed a few tires that had nothing to do with wear and tear...potholes and bad roads are certainly not your friend. As for performance, its hard to tell for me as I am not sure how the car performs with stock wheels. I can tell, though, it is a bit sluggish in the "get-up-and-go", but when it gets going, its haulin'. Better have the right brakes/rotors to stop it as well. Oh, and the steering wheel, I think, feels heavier as well. I have had older BMWs with "heavy steering", but this is the worst!

PS - I dont think I have experienced any rubbing with mine though!

18 is the way to go...
